In Loving Memory of
Garnetta A. Clark

January 11, 1938 - August 25, 1999

"If I died tomorrow, rest assured that [I have] done everything that [I have] ever wanted to do, and more. I am more than satisfied with my life's accomplishments."

Garnetta A. Clark was instrumental in the chartering of the AFGE Local 704 at U.S. EPA, Region 5 and was the first elected President of the Local. She placed her stamp of accomplishments in numerous professions and demonstrated exemplary service throughout her 20 plus years of employment with the Federal Government. To commemorate her outstanding service, dedication, and commitment to Local 704 and its membership, the Executive Board established "The Garnetta A. Clark Service Award" to recognize individuals who have made a significant impact as a member of Local 704.

Garnetta was an inspiration to all who knew her story. She touched many hearts, constantly and consistently giving of herself to help others. She gave her all until the very end. Garnetta was born in Liberty, Pennsylvania and lived her life to the fullest as a blessed child of God until she died while living in Chicago, Illinois. Her dedication to her family was incomparable. Garnetta was the sixth child born and helped raise her eleven siblings. She received her Bachelor's Degree, a Master's Degree, and a Doctorate of Divinity while being a divorced mom of six children. Garnetta was a strong, intelligent, beautiful, and positive role model. She was an all around absolute matriarch of the community. She was an activist during the Civil Rights movement. Her greatest accomplishments include a trip back to her "mother land" of Africa and she encouraged other African Americans to do the same.

Garnetta, this page is to you. Know that you are sorely missed.
