The
First AFGE Local 704 All Union Picnic! (September 2003) SEE
PICTURES BELOW!!
God definitely
had his hands all over our picnic! Weather reports forecast rain
but we prayed real hard and GOD answered in full force. The weather
was absolutely perfect!
Of course the
party didn't get started until Ethel Crisp and her crew arrived.
Everyone who came had a blast! YoGo The Clown On-The-Go got everyone
in a fun state of mind. There was plenty of music, dancing, food,
and fun.
Thelma Codina
and her husband took a reminiscent bounce in the moonwalk. We all
laughed so hard our stomachs ached. Oh, the other kids jumped too!
They jumped to their hearts content.
The bubble machine
cranked out bubbles that the kids chased and chased just to see
them go pop. The face painting was awesome including fireworks painted
on Valoria Robinson's son Teddy's cheek that looked like they could
burst off his skin any second.
Sheri and Brad
Bianchin brought bean bag toss and softball gear. Chuck "O",
Jeff Bratko, Zenny, and others hit a few strikes and caught some
high flies. Donna and her daughter Shakira slam dunked a few bean
bags. The bees were a little pesky but nothing we couldn't handle.
LaYvette and her family thought to bring some citronella candles
which helped out a lot. The greenery was lush. Sheri and Brad's
son traisped through the forest. Bettye Carter and her family pulled
up the rear.
We hung around
the rest of the day and ate and ate and ate. We took pictures, played
cards, talked, and just had a blast. Overall, it was a great time.
Most importantly, we had lots of comradery. It was nice to get away
from the office and have fun with fellow brothers and sisters of
Local 704. Thanks to everyone who bought a ticket and supported
the event. Verneta Simon was the first to purchase one!
A special thanks
to Valoria Robinson and Jeannette Collins for planning the event
and Rich Boice for some last minute running around. Another special
thanks to the Executive Board for their support and encouragement
through it all. We truly have a wonderful Executive Board. That's
a wrap. Hope to see all Local 704 bargaining unit members at our
next big event!
